 Subject: dakota running like crap

Hey I got my oil changed to mobil 1 syn about 5300 miles ago. Before that I got my oil changed every 3000 miles. The past few days it has been running like s^it. I am gonna go get the oil changed tomorrow morning. Should I have changed my oil filter once before it I was gonna let it go from 3000 miles to over 5000 miles? Thanks in advance to anybody that helps.

While your at it waste a quart on your engine. While the filter and plug are out, pour some oil in the crankcase and let it push out the old oil. I always have half a quart left over so I use it to pour through to get the old out.

As far as I know with oil filters, you should change it every 3000 regardless of what kind of oil you're using. The only thing different with synthetic is you don't change the actual oil every 3000. And I'm far from an expert with daks so I really don't know why your truck is running like crap.

The oil gauge is almost all the way to the right on high even after I got the oil changed. Is this bad, shoul I be concerned? Thanks.

If its that high at idle, you should probably worry. Around 2000rpms mine is a little higher than 3/4 but at idle its around 1/2. Are you sure the oil level is correct???
