OK, why are my rpms so high? I noticed that the tach climbs to 2000-2200 rpms @ just 20mph and it seems like it doesn't want to shift. Also, on the freeways, the tach hits 3200-3500 rpms @ around 60-65mph. Then, it soars to even higher rpms when I ease off the clutch. What the heck is going on? Basically it feels like its in "2"nd instead of "D"rive. Everything was fine this morning until I raced a PT Cruiser and almost hit the redline on the tach. Could this have caused it? Any advice is appreciated, I don't want to take it to the dealer and have them charge me $100 to open the hood.

You could have messed up the computer this morning. I would first try to reset the computer by unplugging the battery. To do that, just unbolt the ground and remove it and then replace it. Hopefully that would solve your problem. Next, when was the last time you changed your transmission fluid? If it has been a long time (over 40k miles), you could have overheated the fluid that should have been replaced already anyway. So check the fluid. Third, I hope you didn't break something in the transmission.

Did it work? I hope its only the computer and that you didn't damage anything else. Did you at least kill the PT?
