I have a 2002 3.9 V6 2WD Dakota Club Cab sport. I'm thinking about swapping out my throttle body and putting a bigger one in. What's the best and most economical way to do this? What size is best for my truck? Can I use one from any V8 or does it have to come from a specific engine (4.7, 5.2, 5.9, etc)? Can I only use one from a 2002? Any idea where I can get a good one for fairly affordable with out having to spend a couple of hundred bucks?

Brand varies, as does the opinions of them all. Do a TB search here, you will learn more than I can post in one thread. Rtkota(Sam) is a good resource. Junkyards are a good option to save a buck or two. I think I also saw someone here selling a fe TB's for around 75 bucks. Search and you will get all your answers.

Best best is to get a TB from 5.2 and 5.9 engine
97' or newer. You will also have to replace your throttle cable with one from a 5.2 or 5.9.

Several vendors offer ported throttle bodies that aren't too expensive. I went with an F&B after reading the comparisons.

I used the new gasket as a guide and a dremeral
AFTER removing the intake from the engine....

I got mine out of a 5.2L Durango, and didn't have to do anything except replace the throttle cable. Of course we did it the hard way, and didn't buy a new set, so we took the linkage and shaft from my V6 TB and stuck it in the v8 tb. Took a good few hours and a lot of cussing, but the swap worked well. You'll notice every fit except that.

Well, I'm thinking about an F&B 48mm TB. It's a little pricey put it might be worth it.....bolt it on and keep the original throttle cable. I was taking a look at my cable today and it looks like it could be a bitch to replace. And, for some reason, if I ever decide to get rid of the truck in the future, I can always put the stock TB back on with no problem.
From some of the posts on this site, I've read that the F&B is pretty damn good....it will really wake up my V6 3.9L. Does anyone know how the F&B 48mm compares to a TB off of a 5.2 or 5.9? (as far as performance)
