 Subject: Raced a 00 jeep

I was driving around last night and came across some guy that thought his 00 jeep grand cherokee v8 was fast.Well we got a stop light and i didnt think i was going to win racing a v8 jeep,but i said what the hell and raced anyway.And i won he was trying so hard to keep up and couldnt.I checked the hp on it and it was 235hp and 295 torque.I guess the 4.7l isnt as fast has everyone thinks.I beat him off the line and we raced to about 75mph.I only have y-pipe exhuast on my 3.9l.Anyone ever beat one before?

I thought those were the fasted SUVs around. I dont know which years, but some of them ran low 15s.

That's just idiotic racing a Cherokee.
A 4.7 Dakota was put up against a R/T of the same year and the 4.7 won.This was in a popular magazine, i just dont remember. But obviously the Cherokee is heavier than the dakota, so there's your answer.
Oh and the fastes SUV is the Porche Cayenne turbo

A grand would kick the crap out of almost any v6 dak especially a mostly stock dak. Wake up and smell the roses, that race is a loss every time unless he was asleep behind the wheel

1998's were the fast year. They were available with the 5.9 and full time 4wd. At the time they were the fastest production SUV's out there, and they might still be, I'm not sure though....

hey I have a 96 dakota 4x4 with3.92 rear a no slip locker FIPK and 3.9 V-6. I can smoke my 2001 Grand cherokee on everything except heavy pulling of my boat on a steep ramp. It has less torque but more pep and speed than the jeep

I bet he raced a v6,
cause i raced a girl in a jeep with the str8 6 and lost by like 2 car lengths by the time i hit 60.
She had better gears and more speed.
lol, but i am sure even with a 4.7, the v8 jeep would smoke you

We have a 2000 Jeep Gand Cherokee Limited with the 4.7L. This thing is fast! No way would a 6 cyl dak m,ostly stock beat it. Ive played around with it alittle before, with the LS in the rear and the 4.7, It goes. And yes it can pull like a train. AZs a matter of fact, just a few days ago I was pulling my 17 ft ski boat to as near by lake here in Michigan. There was some type of ricer that came buzzing by me in town with his coffee can muffler. Meet him at the next light. It wasnt a race or anything, but he was revin his civic or something up high, and even pulling the boat, I had no problem staying up with him. Up till about 55mph. Then I didnt wanna seem stupid and keep accelerating in town. So he buzzed off once again. I gotta a little chuckle outa it.
But yes, the 4.7L Jeeps are fast.

i have a dakota an '88 slow slow my mom has a '00 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 with 4.0 straight six with a k&n and dynomax exhaust and i will race any dakota 6 cylinder out there there is no way he probably was just messing with you

the 00 jeep v8 more than likely had some
problems BIG problems and you sicminded
dude i like your truck but you need to do some
more checking on cars b/c you have some
errors like a v6 jeep which there is no such
thing

there was a 2.8 v6 option in earlier cherokees but not in the grand cherokees or newer cherokees

i own a 96 dak 3.9 and i kicked the holy living crap out of a v8 jeep wether or not if it was messed up or not i dont know but he challanged me as for the 4.0 straight six ive been beaten by my friends repeadetly but only by a half a car length

I had a '98 Cherokee with the 4.0 I6 & it ran circles around my '93 3.9L 4x4 Dak. Both stock.
Unfortunately my wife flipped the Jeep End-over in a 6' ravine.
She only sits in the Passenger seat of the Dak!
