Message: Andre,
I just fixed the same problem with my truck. Your symptons sound exactly like mine.
If you are not getting a signal from the computer to the coil (when it will not start) it may be the computer (PCM). (Email me and I'll get you more information on this, if you wish)
I replaced my PCM and the truck runs like a top now.
I ordered one from <autocomputerexchange.net>
It cost me $160, on sale, including all shipping.
It took me about 20 minutes to replace. Of all the parts I replaced this was the quickest and easiest.
After replacing the PMC it acted up a little, which scared me, but I was told that the computer needed to get reprogramed; which happens with driving it and letting it coast.
Now it runs like great.
Before replacing the computer I had replaced the plugs, wires, distributor, coil, camshaft sensor, cranshaft sensor and MAP sensor. I had also made sure the problem was not in with the fuel pump.
Don't hesitate to contact me if you need to. My email address is percifield@comcast.net

Message: mhein,
Before you replace the fuel pump make sure it is not working properly at the time it is stalling. Rent a fuel pressure gauge from an auto parts store (most have a buy then return program), attach the hose, then tape the gauge to your windshield so you can read it while you are driving. If you have good pressure while the engine is stalling, the fuel pump is not the problem.
Before replacing the computer you should first determine if the coil is getting a signal from the computer. I have instructions from a mechanic on how to do this. I'll try to hunt them up and make another post.
