Message: I was wondering? i first had a cam and crankshaft sensor put on the first time check engine light came on. I was told that was what I needed when Advance Auto Parts hook there machine up to it. Then that is when all my problems started to happen. Today I went out and crank it to run a while and seen check engine light has came on again. Gave me code P1391. i try to find it in Repair Manuel and didn't see it listed. i look up on internet the best i can and run across it means "cam and crankshaft sensor needs to be replace". Could this be where all my problems coming from? banditnc@yahoo.com

Message: jazzer, your problem is the temp sensor for the ECU.
This is NOT the gauge sensor but the unit that tells the ECU the temp of the engine. Yours is stuck on "warm". It is making the ECU think the engine is warm and it adjusts accordingly. When the engine does get warm, the settings work properly.
As an aside, when you have a problem start a new thread. Multiple posters with similar problems on the same thread gets confusing. No one knows who is being responded to.

Message: I am having trouble with my 95 Dakota. It will bog down and has backed fired once, and now it is bogging down and stalling. Sometimes it starts up right away and other times it has to turnover several times before it starts, and sometimes it runs great and other times it runs and idles rough. I am going to change the cap rotor plugs and wires. Will this fix my problem or is there something else I need to fix.

Message: I have a 2002 Dakota, six bangger.106,000.0 km We'll I replaced wires, plugs, cap and rotor, cam sensor, crank sensor and still ran like baffed out engine. unplugged and wiggled the wiring harness, all plug ins, especially crank sensor and cam sensor plugs ins. Truck runs fine now, no miss and pretty good power for a six.Even my heater fan started working on low speeds. I'm guessing the wiring harness/plug-ins on these models are crap and is the culprit. Garage even wanted to change fuel pump.Crooks. Even they can't figure it out.Got it running good so time to sell. New Ford---they didn't ask for Government bail-outs.

After a couple of minutes the truck will start back up, but backfiring and stalling again. I have replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor button pickup module, camshaft position sensor, crankshaft position sensor and the coil. Any other suggestions on this? Message: The codes are cylinder 1 and cylinder 3 misfire, map sensor
voltage too high and coil 1 circuit. Pulled off the map sensor
and was advised to use some CDC electrical cleaner. Out it
back on and the truck immediately fired up. I let it idol for
about 30 minutes and it ran fine. Went to take it for a test
drive and under pressure the truck ran fine for about 10
minutes worth of driving and started backfiring again. When
the truck would backfire, it ran fine again for about 5
minutes or so and stalled while driving. Could the map
sensor be the cause of all this?

Message: Could be the MAP sensor. How many miles on the motor? Reset the PCM and see if that MAP code comes up again. If the code comes back, check wiring to the MAP and if it looks good, change the MAP. If it is intermittent, I'd say it's an electrical/ sensor problem.
