Subject: URGENT! Get stock stud off air cleaner? IP: Logged
Message: Hey
I am so frustrated right now...
Anybody else run into trouble when trying to unscrew the bolt thats on the stock stud for the air cleaner? ive been trying for 2 hours, and i cant unscrew it.. it doesnt look like it is rusted or anything b/c it wiggles... for more in depth, the part im talking about is the little metal piece that has the round end to the stud going through one of the 2 holes on it... this piece sits on top of the throttle body and holds the stud in place.
so does anyone know how to get that fricken bolt off?? or any tips on how to get it off

Message: The threaded stud is permanently mounted to a small bracket, which is bolted to the TB body with a small 3/4" long bolt. You unbolt that from the TB-- and lift everything off.
The vertical stud does not come off the bracket.

Message: Its what is commonally called a "S" bolt. They are simple to make. I measured the distance from the mounting bolt and the height of the hold down stud and added 3/4" to make up for the radis of the bends.. This gave me the lenght of the 1/4" rod I needed. I clamped it in a vise and bent it to the orginal measurements and threaded the ends. To mount it on the TB I put a jam nut on the one end, threaded it into the TB, applied a small amount ot blue Loctite on the threads and tightened the nut. You could use a section of 1/4-20 redi-rod.
