hey massivedak
you should just use regular cooper plugs when using the msd box. using platinum plugs is not recommended. i think it mentions it in the msd instruction. just thought i'd let you know. i also talk to one of the msd techs and they also said the same.

That's what MSD recomends, I am using the AP3923
autolight gaped at .050 with MSD 6a and the SS
Blaster coil and 8.5 MSD wire's they are running
fine. Just the center electrode is platnum.

I will tell you right now if you get rid of the
+4's it will run better, I tried them and they
run like crap good of idle to about 2000 rpm
than $hit. It will rev cleaner and be more crisp
throttle response with better plugs.

My nephew also tried them in his 85 4X4 and
got the same resaults, crap at higher rpm.

i took out the +4 and changed them to the stock champion spark plugs i there was very little if any difference in the low end and the champions seem to work better on the topend

J and J,

What does the gap do for you in a plug? My 02 suggests a .040 gap, which is where I have gapped my AP3923s. I am considering going with the MSD setup that you have, is there benefits to gapping the plugs another .010?

Thanks!

02,

If you have the AP you can gap them .005 over
stock .045 on your truck

Reason the resistance it takes to fire a platnum
is less than a standard nickle coating and the
stock coil will handle it easy.

A bigger gap will start a bigger flame front, burn
more of the fuel and burn it faster. More Power
from the same charge of air and fuel.

Or you could say a bigger explosion in the chamber
