Subject: Intake Gasket Leak, TSB? Free Fix? IP: Logged
Message: Got a 98 reg cab with 82k on it,
it is in the shop now and they say that i have
a intake gasket leak and are charging 520.00 worth
of labor.
Just wondering if there are any recalls on this and if there is any shot at getting them to fix for free or cheaper.
now you know thats..................

Message: There are NO recalls on intake gasket repairs. The odds are slim that DC will repair it free for any reason, especially on a 98 year model (5 yrs old now). Yes, you can get it repaired cheaper, but most likely not at the dealership.

Message: You probably won't get it for free. If you complain a lot and the dealership looks at your service history and see that you spend lots of money with them for maintenance stuff they might call dodge and see if they will make a deal with you (like you pay parts, they pay labor), but it's not likely, if you only bring your truck there when it breaks down they usually won't be willing to help you at all. Your truck has high milage on it now, leaks happen, paying to fix them is part of owning a vehicle. That's one of the reasons i learned how to fix cars, between my two vehicles i probably save $4000 a year between my free labor and my parts discount.
