I've got an '00 Sport and there seems to be quite a bit of lag time between gas pedal and the truck actually doing anything. The same when releasing the pedal.
Is a sensor going bad? Is it normal and can anything be done short of new TB?

get a better air filter..cheapest upgrade..something that will flow better than the stock 1...better spark plugs and wires and then a new fuel filter..try those 3 things and u should feel a difference

Well it's been like this since I bought it ( 6 months ago ) and I have MSD wires Edlebrock Pro Flow air cleaner, and a Magnaflow muffler on it now.
Its strange, cause when ya sit there and try and rev it up it takes about a half a second for the motor to catch up with the pedal. Also if ya lag the engne to a stop sign or some thing it takes it the same amount of time to start slowing it down. Weird.

PS
I'm trying something different with the air cleaner. There was some debate about cold intakes getting air from the engine compartment which is warm anyways, so I thought I'ld try this, only 20 bucks. Doesnt seem to have made any difference though.

Ya but it looks so cool.

The throttle thing is something else, I forgot to mention that when ya wind it out like 3000 to 3500 and let off to shift, same thing. Its like the engine is waiting for intructions, but its really most noticable when its not under load.

You can adjust your Throttle Position Sensor and get better
throttle response.

I have mine at .72 stock unit was around .5 and I always
had a lag in response.

The reason why theres a throttle delay the computer is programmed not let snap throttle for emissions so there wont be a lot of unburned fuel and the same when the throttle delays back to idle so it burns the fuel

I don't know about that mod, seems with all the slack in the mounting holes it would vibrate loose eventually.
Maybe someone will come up with some after market job.
I'm planning on getting an F&B 48mm TB soon so I guess I'll wait on this.

Follow Larry's advise on th TPS. Mine was 5.8v stock and reset to 7.2v. Absolutly no lag at any speed. I fabricated an alumunium plate to take up the space of the inserts.
