Are you serious??? The 3.7 is more like a car engine. Drove it in the Liberty, I definitely would not buy a Dakota with a 3.7...it also sounds like a 4-cyl Tacoma! Yes it is most likely a better solution for daily driving but I use mine for daily driving, offroading, towing...etc. Would not want to do any towing with a car-like 6er.

I like the 3.9, but if I were given the option of the 3.7 when I bought my 02 Dakota, I'd have dished out the extra cash somehow for the V8!

If the 3.7 is ohc, I most definitely wouldn't want it. I'm a old time "If it ain't broke, don't ____ with it" kinda guy. I like push rods and motors that don't buzz.

I was wishing I had waited to see if the 3.7 would be in the Dakota, but now I'm glad I went ahead. I also don't like aluminum in motors so I didn't want the 4.7.

A car engine? Well at least this car engine would put out a little more than the 3.9 at 175hp. I know i wish dodge would just completely build a new v6 instead of basing them off their v8s.

Why should they invest the extra $$ to make a new v6 when it is cheaper to base it off of an existing v8?

a lot of car company bases at least one of their V6's off of a one of their V8's

3.9 = 5.2 missing 2 plugs
4.3 = 5.7 missing 2 plugs

you should see the similarities of the chevy 3.1, 3.4, 3.8 and LS1

Mopar shou;d have choped there 400 same stroke
as the old 383 which was a very tuff engine.

- 25% it would have been a 300 cubic inch V6
like a 5.0 liter.

Then they would have really had a motor to brag
about.

Don't get me wrong I still love my V6 just had
to drop a few thousand dollars to get some performance.

04quad, i agree with the OHC opinion, because the buzz is just annoying, but i like the aluminum motors, since they reduce a significant amount of weight from the front end of our already heavy dakotas
