Okay... I was looking at getting something like this to improve the ride in my 1998 Dakota if I would haul my four-wheeler on long trips.

http://www.jcwhitney.com/product.jhtml?CATID=193925&BQ=jcw2

Notice this is made for Dakotas up to 1996. Anyone know where I can find something like this for my 98? If they don't make anything, any of you got any other suggestions? My dad suggested getting air suspension in the back, but that's a lil too complicated for me, although it sounds neat:)

Thanks,
Josh

That's got all the info I need... does that mean the ones posted above will work for my truck too? I also just found some designed for my year...they appear to be similar to the ones posted above, except that site says they'll work with my truck.

if you plan on having the quad in there all the time, it will work great. If you plan on driving it empty, it will be awful.

Okay...couple more questions and I think I got everything down.

Which would you recommend from there. My four-wheeler is around 500 lbs, but I would like plenty of weight to spare in case I haul something a lot heavier than that. I'm trying to decide between the EZ-1000 or the LP-15. Basically, I want something that will ride good with and without a load.

Also, with installation... My friend said I just get the helper springs which bolt onto the stock leaf springs. So are those very simple to install? In the pic it shows 2 helper springs on one leaf spring and it says in the description, "Sold in pairs." Does that mean one pair goes on a leaf spring or what? I don't wanna buy these and get half of what I need or buy double what I need... Sorry for sounding like an idiot, but that's what I am when it comes to trying to be a mechanic.

Thanks again for the replies so far,
Josh

Rather than trowing all these products at you truck and guessing which one will work. Why don't you just go to a spring shop and let people that do spring modification do new springs for a living?

1.) I'm very very short on cash right now, so I'm trying to save as much as possible by not taking the truck in.

2.) I know both of the ones I'm looking at will "work" but I'm wondering from the users here which they would recommend being that I don't want to get the expensive one if the much cheaper one will work plenty good. Plus I had a few questions on installation...nothing too much.

If all the people here did what you're recommending, this would be a VERY dead board, ya know?

They would also have things done correctly the first time and probably wind up saving money also. The term cheap fix and working properly never go well together. Usually all those cheap fix it methods don't work and you wind up removing it and having to get it redone anyways. It is always cheaper in the long run to get it done one time and correctly.
