Subject: 92 vs. 97 exhaust and engine IP: Logged
Message: I used to have a '92 V6 Dakota, with a 40 series Flowmaster Cat-back. I now have '97 Dakota V6 and i was wondering if the sound in the exhaust would be the same if i put the 40 sereis Flow on my new truck. Is there any HP diference in the two engines, i.e. changes to the output of the engine between '92 and '97? I would like it to sound like my old one, b/c a lot of the time people thought it was a V8. But mainly i would just like to know about any engines modifications from the factory between those two years. Thanks in advance for yalls help!

Message: I had a '92 and there is no difference. They may have changed a couple minor things like the airbox but other than that, it's the same animal.

Message: Hey Texas97, which part of texas do you live? I wish I could have two daks. If I could I would have 3!! My V6 5-speed (considering a twin turbo setup!), A 4.7L 5-speed, and a R/T with a t-56 Conversion.. Then I might be happy!!

Message: I dont have two at the same time. I sold my old one and bought a newer one. I cant afford two trucks, i am going to school at Texas A&M in College Station,TX so i dont have that much money. But it would be sweet though. Where are you from 98SPRTV6? Oh my two would be a 5.2 4X4, five speed, and a silver R/T with a supercharger and nitrous. But i am a very poor person, so its not likely.

Message: 98sprtv6 good luck on the twin turbo set up, that is going to cost a bunch, i thought about that for a while.
I would have a genIII dak and drop a 440 in it, then I would have a supercharged r/t for daily driving :)

Message: horsepower wise, the 92-3 where advertised at 180 hp. from there on they where advertised at 175. the reason being is that those two first years the exhaust and y-pipe where 1/4 larger in diam. they went smaller cause the engine made more bottem end tq.
