i got a 93 dodge dakota its dualed out has no catalytic converter . bitch is loud its aging of course so i was thinkin should i rebuild the engine before i put any engine mods?? i got 176k ! im tired of them damn rice burners running next to me tryin to be bad . so i took all the guts out my catty . its hard finding parts for my 93 3.9 so any perfornamce mods and maybe even engine rebuild kits would be helpful ! my rides already louder then them rice grinders if my exhaust wont do it the 4 10s in the back seat do the job JL AUDIO of course . buddy of mine told me that i can get clear corners for my ride and id love to have em i just cant find em!! any help would be appreciated!! thank ya much !!
help this goat eat all them rice grinders up!!

hey, with the clear corners and the JL AUDIO you should all ready have enough rice in your diet. That on top of your "louder then them rice grinders" exhaust you could probably get away with putting TYPE-R stickers all over your truck. You could easily trade your decent truck in for an old civic.

this is not a dakota friendly site when u want to rice the truck up..u will see that soon...goto EBAY for the clears..y rebuild..that motor should still be fine at that mileage...mine has around 180k also and burns harldy a quart every 3k..and STILL has a sh!tload of power..i can run an import down and race Monte SS's all day and WIN!!

instead of wasting your time trying to pick on "ricers," concentrate on what your truck (especially a V6) really is -- A TRUCK! it ain't a race car that you can actually back your sh*t up with. you won't see import guys on their message boards saying: "what can i do to make my civic kill 93 dakotas?" instead, you'll see them trying ways to improve on what they already have. YOU have a truck, go out and do someone a favor and use the bed to take out their trash or tow their bikes (if your V6 can haul such a load). or, you can come to your senses and try to improve on what you have and stop trying to reach goals that ain't acheivable. why do so many people have beef with imports?! just do what you can do for YOUR own truck, gotdammit!!

Ok, I must step in here and point out a few things....if RICE is fast it has a turbo or N2O or a combination of both.
I have never lost to mod'ed rice that had neither.
Level the playing field, use their tactics and you can take care of em.
I think alot of rice is actually board or afraid of a Dak with some decent mods, hell look how many flamed on this thread!!
All I can say to rice is.....BRING IT, I have taken on some serious hitters so far and its all good.
Rice will say..."but you have 2 more pistons or maybe 4 more" and they might say "but you have a full frame and rwd so you can tune your traction better". None of that matters because most all rice has ALOT less weight than any of our plywood haulin Daks.
Dont let the rice and rice flamers get you down...their driving commuter cars for Gods sakes!!

OK, now I'm not trying to stir things up but check it out. "Rice" = Import cars whose owners didn't know what the hell they were doing, all show and no go. Those are those little cars that have 10ft wings and different parts off different cars (i.e., M3 side skirts fabricated on to a civic or supra tailights molded onto an integra). That sh*t is worse than "ricer," thats "boater" no matter what ethnicity you are.
Second, FazDak: "their driving commuter cars for God sakes." Are you saying that its a stupid idea to mod regular cars onto something more desirable to drive? Because if you are than you should realize that you are doing the exact same thing to your little truck that all the "ricers" are doing. Your V6 came from the factory not to be fast but to be functional, to haul loads and sh*t like that. If what you're saying is true, than YOU and all my other V6 dak bro's and sis's on this board are all "ricers" also. So don't let me get YOU down, you're driving a "big, bad ricer modded" V6 for God sakes.
Don't twist my previous post around, nobody is bringing down daks, I love my little V6 hustler. Read it for what it is and reply with some sense, ricer boy.

You do realize theres a Nascar Truck series, a Pro Stock division and just because it can handle loads doesnt condem it to a life of work and no play.
If you want your truck to only do meanial tasks than so be it but leave us who would like to "reach acheivable goals" alone.
I can tell your Dak must not be fast at all, just send the rice to me, I'll take care of em for you.

WTF! This is a dodge dakota forum. If all you people are going to do on this board, it b!tch about rice, to hell with you guys.
I like some imports, yea they are faster (with a sh!tload of cash dumped into most). You can make anything rice, you can make anything fast, you just need the cash.
Now Im sick of all these posts on this site going off topic. Who cares if the originator wants to beat rice...he has a goal. Making a 1993 dak go fast is rare (trust me, Im still working on mine).
Now, back to the original post.
What Im into is performance. I don't have cash right now, so my truck is basically just...just...just a truck...stock i should say. The only thing I have on my engine that is different or considered a mod is my 14in edelbrock chrome air intake.
Now to the engine/and stuff. What I plan on doing with my 93 dak (3.9L) is dropping it 2inches, getting new tires, and a rear sway bar (this will help me greatly i believe with arrowdynamics and corners). With the engine, I have been looking into a new TB, but I havent gotten too far into it (need to start researching that). The best thing you can do for you truck is to get a really good exhaust (if the one you have now isnt the BEST of the BEST) and a really good air intake (mine isnt that great, but, once I get the money for a new hood w/ scoop, it will benifit me greatly).
Next....performance chips. JET has a stage II performance chip (which is like 200-250). This chip will help with the low end RPMs and torque (my dak needs help in the lower rpms).
Electric fan. Get rid of the stock, clutch fan, and get a 15" (or 16", i dont remember) electric fan (read more into it also). This will free up some rpms on the motor.
Spark plugs. The ones I have kinda suck. They are Bosch Platinums...I wouldnt recomend them. New wires (I know nothing about wires) will help also.
GET RID OF EXTRA WEIGHT: Loose the system. I have 2x 12s in my truck, and the box and speakers are pretty heavy. If you are REALLY looking into eating rice, do this. If you are a hardcore rice eater....strip EVERYTHING out from your truck (passenger seat, rug, dash (leave the legal stuff on), your system, rear seats (if extended), and anything not needed in your truck (yeah, im not going for this look personally).
Tires make a BIG difference...and I have tires that slow me down :( Next summer Ill be working on this.
Thats about all I can think of right now....hope this helps.

I agree with the fact that people should stop writing posts that go off on a tangent. If you dont have anything helpful to say about the question asked to begin with then dont post. I was merely agreeing with faztdak on how he said we can make trucks fast too. These trucks are not just for towing and hauling but for fun too. And anyways to each his own, I mean this guy has a valid question and he DID pay for his own truck which does make it his so let him do whatever he wants to it, without ribbing him for wanting to beat a import. I have a lot of respect for certain imports but not all. I used to hate them till a friend of mine got a 95 supra TT. There are REAL import race cars and then there is the guy with the toyota tercel, honda civic or hyundai elantra with the body kit and huge 747 wing with no performance mods. These kids do own these cars and they can do what ever they want to them, But I will voice my opinion when it comes to FALSE race car.I dont hate on these guys but I do think its funny. If anything that sh!t is wieighing the car down even more. In my opinion ricers are the all show\no go type of imports. Im open minded and other people on this board should be too. Supras, RX7s and REAL import race cars are one thing but compact family cars made to just LOOK like a race car is another. Granted my truck is no race car, but I have fun with it. Sorry for the steam, but it had to be said.

No problem. I talk on a lot of dakota forums and this seems to be the only one where people constantly flame guys for every little thing they wanna do thier truck. It wastes space and time.
