hey i just recently replaced the following items on my 93' 3.9L dakota: muffler, water pump, idler arm, and timing chain. I was wondering if these items will improve the power from how it was before or not? What will each of them help with?

You won't notice much of a difference. If the old timing chain had lots of slack in it you will notice with the new chain that you have more low rpm power and less high rpm power. When chains get old and stretch out the cam timing advances and they run great up high.

How do you figure? As the chain stretches, it get's longer. So when the crank gets to TDC the cam will be behind it (longer chain) so therefor it would retard the cam timing. To advance the cam timing the cam has to be ahead of the crank.

Your right it does retard. I just didn't take the time to think about it before i typed. But they still run good at high revs.
