Subject: Buying a Dakota, Mileage Question. IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys.
I'm considering buying a 1997 V6 Dodge Dakota, and I have a question about mileage. It has 99k miles (158k km's or so), seems to run great, looks great, has no major problems.
I'm just wondering if the mileage is a little too high. How long do these bad boys usually last before they start having major problems? At 100k miles will she still have alot of life left in her? Thanks in advance :).

Message: I have seen a lot of Dakotas and Rams with over
200,000 and still running strong.
I just bought a 1990 Dak 4X4 with 214,000 on it
for my next buildup.
It burns about a quart of oil every 3000 miles
and the oil preasure is a little low at idle but
no knocks or noses in the motor.
I would go for it.
They are very tuff little trucks and I am sure as
we all did you will fall in love with it.
Also very reliable trucks

Message: those v6's won't die..my 93 has about 180,000 burns NO OIL!!!and has more than enough balls to mess with Monte Carlo ss's....its a good deal...avg miles for these trucks on these post are around 15-20k a year..so u fall right in there
the only major pain i had was a radiator that overheated and a starter and battery...not too bad

Message: take care of the motor!!!oil changes and synthetic and buy 92 or higher octane..make sure you clean the injectors every so often and get good plugs wires and cap/rotor..but i think the air filter helps some too...way better than stock for breathing...also go synthetic in everything
