I believe the cat is under warrenty for 80,000 miles. Check with your local dealer.

You may have had some catalyst break loose and lodge in the muffeler before the converter was relaced. Had this happen to me twice to me. Wont hurt anything. Its just irritating. I'm on my forth cat right now. You've spent a couple hundred on the cat, add another hundred and go ahead and dual it out while your there.

Do it sooner than later...I waited, damn near got taken out by a 18 wheeler on a entrance ramp when it finally broke enough to block the exhaust flow...imagine my disappointment when I gassed it only to have nothing and a stall, with a MACK logo growing in my rear view...plus, got reimbursed for the rental car as well through that cat warrenty...

The only thing I can say, is that Chrysler Cats suck. I went through 5 in two years (under warranty). Finally I spoke with an honest mechanic at the local dodge dealership who told me that I am far from being the only one with this problem. My sugestion is to pay a few bucks and get an aftermarket one. You can probably get the cat and have it installed for less than $150.
Just my 2 cents worth.
