Dose anyone know of a shift kit for a 98 automatic Dakota? If so where can i find one and what is the price of one. Oh yeah, dose anyone out there use Mobil One Tri Synthetic Motor Oil, and the K&N oil filter? I want to know what you think about this combo.

Kenne Bell sells a "wide range" shift kit for your model Dakota. $135 Haven't tried it myself, but they it's "just right", won't slop your coffee, but shifts firmly and quickly. Tranny doesn't have to be removed to install either. Part# D1070 - Kenne Bell 10743 Bell Court, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730 Orders (909) 941-6646 FAX (909) 944-4883

Transgo has a shift kit for our trucks... i just installed one in my 98 dakota. You can get them at www.speedtweaks.net for about $100. It isnt really that hard of an install but very long and very messy.

Hey guys,

I used to have a 3.9 in my truck (got a 5.9 now)

but when i was runnin on 6 cyl I ordered a transgo shift kit for my truck (auto). I didn't do the work myself...but it comes with a book that tells you how to set it for different performance, I had the guy do it for R/V/Towing.... and theres a bunch of holes (sorry dont know much bout trannys) that you can bore out different sizez in some plate, I had him bore them out big as possible, also left out every checkball that had the option to leave out. The truck would burn the crap outta second, (enough to leave rubber bout 4 ft long (no positive trac at that time)....and would *chirp* 3rd about 3 outta 5 times. When it shifted at WOT, it would snap you GOOD. Now for the drawback, the only problem I had was, like if you were doin 15-25 mph, and had the truck in DRIVE, even at 1/2 throttle...it would hop between 2nd and 3rd gear sometimes...as if sayin GO ON!!.... so when i was driving slow, id drop it down in 2nd. but thats the only problem it had. just my .02, hope I could be of help, Im a newbie here but i try to be honest and clear as possible.
