 Subject: rice muffler?

don't slam me but, i got ahold of a polished stainless steel rice muffler with two outlets. i plan to sell it and make a little cash. but i am also wondering what it would sound like on my dak. if i used it, it would be mounted underneath and out of sight and weld two pipes to the outlets on it and run them out as tailpipes. so the muff would be in the stock location. yeah or neah

Hmmmm.... Instead of sounding like a pissed off Yellow Jacket in a Beer Can....... Maybe 2 PO'd Yellow Jackets? J/K
I dunno, those are designed for I4 Engines, Might sound good, It's my understanding they are "Supposed" to increase air flow and your pushing 2 more cylinders thru it.
Speaking of rice mufflers...
Friday a new Dodge Neon SXT pulled up next to me, he had the ENOURMOUS Spoiler 3' tall off the tail of the car and one of the "Grapefruit Cannon" Mufflers on it & Kept revving the engine (Irritating the yellow jacket)........
Well, With my current fuel injector problems on my Dak w/Glass Packs, I hit W.O.T. and held for about 3 seconds & when I let off it spits little bursts of flame about 6" out the sides.
Skeered the livin bejesus outta the guy sittin in the passenger seat! Needless to say he shut up until we got seperated by traffic.
Yes, I know that wasn't nice, and probably not real legal.
Yes, I would do it again :p

i think it would sound better on a six, but still would have that rice sound to it, just not as bad, due to the extra air going through it, but it will give you some HP due to the fact that it does flow more air, i would say sell it for $100 and get a dynomax or flowmaster

Geez speaking of ricer I just bought a Magnaflow and it sounds terrible, but what difference on the gas pedal, alot more at both ends.
The 3.9 is almost fun to drive now.
I'll just turn the stereo up I guess.
LOL
Does anyone know if this thing will sound better with age?

how big is the system you put on, i was talking to a local muffler guy and he said for my 3.9 to just go ahead with dual 2 1/4"s for about 2 or 3 feet then into either a Y or into the muffler itself then just run a single 2 1/2" out, the reason being that as the gas comes out of the engine, its hot and expands, but down pipe, it is cooler, and takes up less room, this ends up giving more torque than running 3" duals, because the velocity is down so low at the end

I just put the muffler on the stock exahust.
2 1/2 in and out. I think the cat has alot to do with the sound. The guy at the shop let me try a couple different mufflers to see what they sounded like and when we tried it without a muffler it wasn't any louder than with the Magnaflow, but get this, with the flowmaster 40 on, it was alot louder than no muffler at all.
I figured with just a muffler swap the Mag was the way to go for performance.
I'm hoping after it gets broke in alittle it will get a better tone to it. If not, its a 6er says so on the fenders. LOL

Hook it up. Let us know how it sounds. I know it will be unique and possibly might sound good. Go for it. Hey shank, you cant do it any better than that! Kinda makes me wish my injectors were bad. Knockknock. If you cant beat em, scare the hell out of em.

Oh, Btw I had to Order some new Injectors from Bruce @ Five0 Motorsports, my gas mileage is down to 12 MPG & I'm even takin it easy on the throttle. Most of the time :p
