Subject: quits accelerating at certain gear IP: Logged
Message: hey, when i floor my dak, it goes great till like 4th gear, then after 4th it goes again, but when in 4th it accelarates very slow, does anyone know why?

Message: Sounds like and auto trans. I have noticed the same thing with my '98. Looks like the inherent limitation of the 3.9 v6. I'm no gear head but it seems that with the 3.9 having sufficent low end torque it is lacking in the high end power. My truck has a "dead zone" around 50-55 mph where I usually have to down shift again. One of the many problems with designing a v6 from a v8.

Message: If it's an auto it could be the gear ratios in the tranny. If there is a fairly big jump in ratios from 3rd to 4th the engine will have a really high load on it when it shifts to 4th. Of course if it is an auto 4th gear is the highest gear, i don't think dodge puts a 5 speed auto in daks yet??

Message: idk, i have overdrive, is that 4th or 5th gear? i guess its just the v6 with the "deadzone", thanx tho
