Subject: Will die after cold start IP: Logged
Message: My '96 3.9L will start but only if I keep the gas pedal pressed down to about 1500RPM. I have a 2 month old battery and at the time they checked the alternator and it was doing fine. It stayed running at idle after about 5 miles. Any suggestions?

Message: have you replaced your fuel filter lately?if u did then maybe it your IAC motor..it controls your idle speed..if its on the TB like my 93 and is gummed up with carbon that could be your problem..just take it off the TB and clean it with TB cleaner..that should fix it for awhile.

Message: i had the same problem. first it was a dirty throttle body. but it steadily got worse. the problem was the wire for the coolant temp sensor went bad. so it started fine. but after about 5 minutes it would die. the computer thought it was still running ice cold so it kept dumping fuel in the engine causing it to stall. and almost impossibe to get started again unless it cooled down.
