Message: MY 92 3.9 has a K&N filter " installed when I purchased it" I understand this helps airflow, but looking around I trace the air intake and there is a cover of some sort at the end , to me this looks as if it would restrict air flow?? what is this and will removing it help air flow?

Message: Are you talking about the colver down near the grill? Yes it does slightly restrict airflow, but it keeps bugs and water out. Before i switched over to cowl induction i drove my truck around with that little flap removed and i ended up with tons of bugs and little stones in the air cleaner, no big deal, you just have to clean the filter more often.

Message: yeah, i took mine off too. i think it helps. but it does let some debris into the air cleaner housing. i'd do it again.
