Subject: 3" flowmaster for a V6 IP: Logged
Message: I've called flowmaster and they said that they don't make any kits for a 2002 Dak Sport 3.9l. I want a 3" kit with a 50 series, but would settle for a 2.5". I was also looking for the pipes to be mandrel bent, any help would be great.

Message: Jegs has a 3" exhaust for the 00 to 03 Dak with a V8 that "should" work decently according to my brother. I have not done this myself, but I am planning on attempting to put that system on my 93 Dak. Anyone out there have any experience out there with this?
Anyway here is a direct link to the Cat Back system at Jegs.

Message: You might lose some low end torque with a 3 inch.
Here is what I am running with a stroked motor 48 F&B
ported heads cold air intake 92 performance V6 PCM
and a modified intake manifold
But I am a little eccentric with my truck
It flows excellent and no low end loss. you do need a little
back presure with the V6 or you lose low end torque.
JBA headers with the bungs cut off, 2 1/2 inch pipes welded
and mandrel bent going into a Y pipe 2 1/2 to 3 with about
a foot and a half 3 inch than I reduce to 2 1/2 into a dynomax
11748 I think the # and a factory 2.5 tail pipe.
Oh Ya No Cat
With the mods I have it works nice. You don't need to go 3

Message: no no no no no noo! you donot want to use 3" pipe on a 6, you will loose way too much low end and gain little in the top. If going to true duals on a 6 you want 2 and on a single to dual split you want the single to be no bigger then 2 1/2. 3 inch pipe should be banned from ALL small blocks and then used only on streetable big blocks over 425 CI.

Message: J and J Auto; It sounds like you have quite a truck. I was wondering if you have ever checked your 1/4 mile or 0 to 60 times even though it sounds like your daily driver. I have a 97 exta-cab 2 wheel drive v6 that's a work in progess. I have cold air intake, v8 throttlebody flowmaster 70 series msd 6a, msd super conducot wires, bosch plus 4's. I achieved the biggest gains with the v8 throttle body to date.

Message: Wadak,
Drop a set of 1.7 crower roller rockers in your
truck and you will see some real nice gains.
15 to 18 RWHP very noticeable
I tried the +4's in my truck good for low end
but anything over 2000 was doggie. Get yourself
a MSD SS Blaster coil to go with your MSD 6a and
a set of autolight 3923 and gap them at .050 and
you will really notice the improvement its the
best combination I have found yet.
Try a 180 thermostat it will also help, than think about
a set of JBA headers.
It is my daily driver I make excuses just to get out
and drive it because its so much fun, I spent over
$6000 in the last year and a half moding this truck
and I just love it.
I am also running a 1600 stall torque converter, I would
say I am in the 14's I will get to Union Grove one day
and get some #'s Its fast actually scary at times.
Heres some pics if you would like to take a look

Message: the system i was going to do before i decided on full dual was run dual 2 1/4" for about 3 feet off the headers, then run those into a muffler that had a single 2 1/2" outlet, then run the single out the side, the reason being that when exhaust comes out of the engine, it is hot and it takes up a lot of room, but as it gets toward the end of the exhaust system, it has cooled down, and takes less room, thats why you can get away with the single 2 1/2", just something to think about

Message: Spencer,
That is just about what I have.
2 1/2 off the headers both about 3 feet
than both run into a 2 1/2 Y to 3 about
a foot and a half of the 3 inch than reduce
to 2 1/2 right in front of the muffler and
a factory single 2.5 tail pipe and it works
great.

Message: I find nothing wrong with going 3" from the cat back on a V6, the only prob w the gibson set up is the sound . I purchased the alum. set up 3" cat back . Power is great the only prob is sound. I did however find a resonated tip at a local NAPA store and it did kill much of the interior low pitched, reverberating at that certain speed sound. it cost me about $30

Message: Yo, I have an 02' SXT with the 3.9. I need exhaust bad but still uncertain. I was thinkin about maybe just gettin the flowmaster 40 original flow. Will this make a "significant" difference or should I get full exhaust. I know the V8 sound is impossible but I want a louder, somewhat deep (non rice burner) sound.
