Everyone, I have a problem. I did my taxes the other night and found out I am getting $1769 back from the IRS. No,no,no, not bragging. Just want to know what should I do with it? I have a problem with spending money and I got to SPEND IT.
When it comes to having extra money and my truck I'am like a little boy waiting for the ice cream man. Heck, I am 20 years old, I'am still allowed to wait for the ice cream man!!

Here is what i am thinking (PLEASE ADD YOUR OPINIONS!)
1. buy a 440 and trans for $1000 and I found a company that sells bolt on kits for a 440 to go in our truck (engine-swaps.com)
2. buy new gears (4.10), locker, and MT slicks
3. buy junkyard 360 or 318
4. pay off bills (yeah right!)

Hey Bro, Congrats on your return, In my opinion, you should look into getting a 318, or 360, all you would have to do is change the motor mounts, instead of a whole new K member. Also, your stock rearend and tranny should work with the 360, or 318. Just my opinion

Thanks dakbuilder.

one more question sense you where the first person to reply (ha,ha,ha). Fuel injected or carb? I am going tomorrow to search junkyard row.
There is this street around here that has 20+ junkyards on it.

Honestly Bro, that all depends on you. I personally am going to go fuel injection, on my next engine. I beleive it makes more horse power, and todays aftermarket parts, are geared more toward modern technology. I mean, there is an abundance of parts for the magnum 318. The only thing about fuel injections is that you have to get the computer as well. Other than that, it should mount right in with no probs. Hey if you decide to sell your old 3.9 let me know. I'm looking for a magnum 3.9, Gen I engines don't make enough power for my taste. Good luck once again bro.

Build up the 6 and put a turbo on it and smoke all the V8s. Things to do to it: start at the bottom and work your way up
1. have the engine bored 30 over with oversize high strenth rings
2. have the heads pulled and have them shaved and ported and polished
3. have the valves recut and have heavy duty valve springs installed
4. get a set of 1.7 roller rockes
5. get a good high lift cam
6. have the intake manfold ported and polished also and have a 52mm TB installed
7. also get the bigger ford injectors 24lbs
Now after all the motor work is done you have to have a set of custom headers installed so it can meet up with the turbo. For the turbo you might be able to get away with a stock turbo from a grand national which will provide up to 18lbs of boost. If you use a turbo set up you will need an intercooler to help cool the air coming out of the turbo into the intake and this can be made to be mounted right in front of your ratiator. I am sure there are a couple of little things i am forgeting but that is bascally the gest of it.

everyone,
thanx for the reply!

toast, I already smoke those V8s. I have a modified stock TB and already have the 1.7 rrs.
I have been thinking about the camshaft but there is a lot of work to be done to the heads to get a high lift cam and the 1.7s to work.
turbo? that would be cool. I use to have a built shelby charger with a T1 and it would smoke any late model v8 so I do know a lot about turbos.
would the old T1's work on our trucks? I found about eight T1s at the junk yard today. Maybe a twin turbo set up? I also have the 24# injectors from my shelby...would they work?

Intense, I'm sure if you wanted the t1 turbo's to work, there is a way to make it happen. Hell if they work out for you, let me know so that I can look into doing something like that for my 87, Right now, I'm trying to get the most out of the engine that I have, or buy a gen II engine and go all out with it. Hell whatever you do, keep us posted so that we can see how it all works out for you.

well, I do know a lot about turbos (spend four month's building up my shelby) but i have very limited fabrication equip. I have a welder and a lot of cutting tools...I don't think i would like to mess with a header build up (too expensive) but i might be able retro fit some stock manifolds...little cutting here..little there...
i also have common knowledge about the wastegate actuator and how to tinker with it...but getting two of them to work in syncro...or just using one.

i'll tell you what buddy, you have inspired me!!!
monday i will go to the junk yard and find two of the best i can and see how much they cost and start from there!

does anyone have a set of stock manifold that they would like to donate to this project? i think i threw mine away!
spread the word dakbuilder and i'll keep you posted!

How big is the T1 compared to the Grand National turbo? Also what is the max boast you can get out of that T1? Sound like a plan dude. :)

The T06B is what we're going to use for the V6's. You'll also need to match the compressor to the application. It's not as simple as just bolting up a turbo and running with it.

Here's a list of the basics for the V6:

HJ -Turbo Garrett 60-1, P-Trim, .69 Turb. A/R, Ball Brg., Big Shaft, Dry, Dynamic Seal, On-Center
20167 Inlet Flange, T4
30143 Gasket, Inlet Flange, T4
20168 Discharge Flange, T4, 2.5"
30142 Gasket, Discharge Flange, T4
30500 Oil Inlet Flange, T3/T4
30238 Gasket, Oil Inlet Flange, T3/T4
20259 Oil Drain Flange, T3/T4, 1/2" FPT
30141 Gasket, Oil Drain Flange, T3/T4

10307-7 Racegate, 7-9psi, handles up to 700hp
20397 Flange, Racegate
20396A Gasket, Racegate

10402-10 Variable Boost Control Regulator, 0-10psi

bernd,
i know that! i've worked with the T1 a lot...there is going to be a lot of thought put into this. or at least i hope there is!LOL
Also the T1 has coolant run through it to cool it down and melting anything. But neither line to or from it is high pressure so that won't be a problem....
thank for the info!!! really

toast,
when i was on the shelby doge mailing list, I heard of a lot of guys that had a T2 (intercooled T1) that ran a water to air cooler with dry ice...the most boost they pushed was around 35#!!!
the head gasket never had a chance!
