Message: Are you talking about driveshaft alinement or the
angle the rear end sits at.
They make angle shims to aline the rear.
It might help if you gave people more info on what
you are trying to do??

Message: Now I got ya your trying to lower your truck.
Yes you can do it that way but use a piece big
enough so you can drill 4 holes in it for the
U Bolts to go through to keep it from moving.
There is also a center pin that needs to be alined
on the pad that is welded to the axle.
Not a recommended method
Its just like adding a leaf to the springs
You may need new longer U Bolts.
Take a look at some lowering kits for your truck
you may find exactly what you need to lower the
rear an inch or inch and a half.

Message: There are products out on the market that have already been made to do exactly what you are asking. You can install lowering blocks. Most of the blocks that are on the market today already have the correct pinion angle cut into the block. if you want to even out the rear of your truck, all you will need is a 1' block and the blocks come with the new u bolts included. Prices should be around $15-$30. Anything higher is a rip off. This is a much more effective way of dropping the rear, and you can still use factory shocks. Anything more drastic and you will have to do a lot more modafication.
