My 92 Dakota went over 173,000 a few days ago. But the transfer case devoloped a seal leak and I didnt catch it until it went empty. The question is, will this case self destruct before too long?. I plan replacing the seals and any other parts before long. Please reply. , thanks.

Just keep it full of fluid 1 3/16 to remove the
fill plug and it takes trans fluid
Untill you do the seals, you can also try some
seal expanding additive if its not to bad it will
slow the leak in most cases and sometimes stop it
by softening the seal and making it work again

1989 Dodge Dakota 3.9 Auto, camper shell, I use Amsoil in the differential, tranny and engine. The truck has a MSD 5 ignition and I run regular split fire sparkplugs, K and N Airfilter and NAPA gold oil filter. I have a Magna low muffler and low restriction cat. The truck will get me 22 to 25 on the freeway and 16 to 18 in town. The engine and tranny have been rebuilt once. The truck had 379,676 miles on it right now. The truck runs really well. I paln to put atl east another 100,000 on it.

I just turned 115,000 95 4x4
3 light bulbs
pitman and idler arm rest still tight amsoil
grease with moly
new breaks, calipers, wheel cyls all new lines
pads and shoes. Rotor and drums at 100,000 miles
did not need cutting at all unreal
Motors 3
stock to 80,000
took it out and stroked it ran 20,000 miles now
the motor is sitting in my garage thinking of
putting it back in it also got great mileage
but the low end power is real nice
Now 92 V6 with almost the same mileage as truck
running sweet burns no oil I run the royal
purple in the motor and it just hit 23.8mpg
How can you go wrong with one of these long
lasting and with a little work very economical
and not to bad for performance either
Oh Yes I Love my V6 Engines
my 3rd motor is in a 94 sport 2 wheel sroked
309/322 the truck is insane 2200 rpm stall
4.10 gears the thing is dangerious
We fabed up a set of full length ladders just
to slow down the wheel spin off line the daks
are light and smoking the tires is not hard to
do
this truck has also done 13.2 1/4
