Message: Does anyone know how to find the problem with cruise control?
On My 1992 Dakota with the 3.9 V-6, the cruise control, started cutting off after a few miles, than just did a complete "tar-baby",won't engage or anything.
What is the procredure for trouble-shooting this???
Thanks

Message: Check your brake switch, it may be adjusted wrong causing the Cruise to kick off. Good luck.

Message: Had one doing the same thing. Turned out to be the speed sensor was bad. Dodge garage computer couldn't pick it up. No check engine light. I sent the truck home with the mechanic; when he got stranded, he looked harder.

Message: I have a 1999 dakota with 150,000 miles, just had a tune up done (cap, plugs, roto, and wires). On cold days it starts fine and after driving 10 minutes it starts bucking and the tack is all over the place. this is in gears 1-3 and i can drive through it and once i get in 4th gear in am good but after i push the cluth in the tack keeps hoping but the engine isn't reving. I here small back fires almost tiney in sound and the valves are chattering. After 15 minutes of this the problem goes away. If i get directly on the expressway it runs fine till i get on the off ramp after ten miles runs bad for 6 more miles and the problem goes away. When left idling after running for 45 minutes I can hear very soft backfires at no regular intervals. Any ideas would be helpful. Also not throwing a light.

Message: have you tried to retrieve the trouble codes? that would be the first place to start. Autozone and a couple of other parts houses will do it for free.
