Subject: coolant leak at head IP: Logged
Message: hi, and first i want to thank everyone here for providing me with some very usefull info. i often search the archives to answer my questions. but anyway, i have a 92 dak with a junkyard 2000 3.9 longblock in it with about 40k on it. i just replaced the intake belly pan gasket today and noticed a tiny seeping of coolant from the front of the RH head. is this common? is it just the head gasket or do these heads crack? i am pretty sure it is not the intake manifold gasket, it must have been leaking before the repair and i just did'nt notice.

Message: Any head can crack but i don't think these heads are more prone to it than others. 40K miles is pretty early for a headgasket leak, did you torque the intake to factory specs? At least it's an external leak that you can live with for awhile.
