Message: I'm considering an engine swap in my 95 3.9 5spd 2wd. I would be happy with another 6, but a friend with an 8 says the swap is not that harder than the 6.
I talked to dealer about it, and they said there would be a lot more to putting the 8 in than the 6--elctrical, wiringharness, etc.
what do you think/ anyone have experience in engine swaps in Daks?
Confused.

Message: Hey Chris. My mechanic is doing one this week. Check out moparchat.com, on the dakota board. His name is Bill Thompson. I saw the engine before it was put in. He was saying that the wiring harnesses were different, and a V8 PCM had to be installed.

Message: I want to put a '69 340 into a '89 V6 Dakota. Do you have any info that would make this swap easier for me? I need answers to questions like: Will the 340 bolt up to the dakota manual trans bell housing?, Will I need to move the trans? Will the hood close with the original 340 4bbl and intake? Will the water pump clear the radiator? Are there any kits avaliable to mount the 340 on the V6 mounts? Thanks for your help, and if there is any more info you would like to include I woud appricate it.

Message: All you need to do is add the #7 and # 8 injector
wires and use the V8 computer
Thats it
V6 flywheel or flex plate everything else bolts
right up
shayne go to engineswaps.com they have kits to
also put the B RB 383 400 440 into the Daks
There is a local guy who has a 1969 383 4 speed
in his Dak man that is one fast truck

Message: J&J,
He wont need to do all of that because he has TBI injection and that wont adapt to a 340 unless he got a V8 TBI computer, distributor, O2 and various sensors for a 150. Even then I dont recommend it because it will probable run too lean. Also, the 340 will trash the ax15 (your tranny) in short order so I would highly recommend a tranny at the time of swap.
I suggest you ditch all the efi and electronics and run a Mopar Perf electronic ignition kit and good 4bbl carb. Check your local and state emissions laws first.
Good luck.

Message: sorrie I thought it was a multiport
Scott is right bolt it in use a carb and either
points or electronic system on these the timing
is set and all the advance is done in the dist
You will need to run the mopar ballast resistor
with either ign just get one for a 69 road runner
threw resistor than to coil
Mopar also makes a kit to put the electronic set
up onto the older points systems with the box
dist and all the wireing around $200
