 Subject: 3.9 magnum

I am new to the dodge dakota, " know nothing " my engine is a 3.9 V-6 are all of these engines considered a Magnum ?? there is nothing on my engine or in the owner's manual calling it a Magnum??

When dakotas first started in 1987, the 3.9 was a carbed motor, and had not taken on the Magnum name yet.
from 87-91, The engines were not Magnum's or as we refer to them now, they were premagnums.
from 1992-present, all engines are Magnums.
Magnum engines differ from premagnums very little, but there are some differences.
Same for the V8 engines too.

91- LA based engine
parts are not interchangable between the 2
