I have a 1991 model so this may not help you any, but in mine in the fuse box there is a fuse for AC, however, my backup light fuse was blown, which also controls the AC cycling switch (did not say that on the fuse box, did mention it in my Haynes manual). After replacing that fuse my compressor kicks right in and works great. Best bet is to check all of the fuses and replace any that are blown. Also, under the hood there is an AC relay, could be that.
