Message: This conversion seems like a no-brainer and probably is, I would just like some info from somebody who has actually accomplished this swap. I have an 1988 Dakota Sport v6 auto. with a 3.90 axle ratio. This thing has 187,000 miles on it and still runs O.K. I have an early model (70's) 318 and 360 at my disposal and would like to install one of these engines in the truck. I live in Oklahoma and since the state has done away with vehicle inspections I was thinking about doing away with the throttle body injection and bypassing the computer and going with a carburator. Is this a feasible swap or a headache? I know I would have to do something about the AOD trans. I would like to keep it with the 3.90 axle instead of running a standard A904 or A727 trans. If this is possible, does anyone have a parts list or an easier way?

Message: If your GEN1 dak is a 4x4, you might have some clearance issues. If its 2wd, you should be alright.
