I tried it once but it was from chevron. I was trippin' when I first saw it but I went ahead and tried it. Yup, hecka more power but I'm not trying to spend over three bucks/gal on gas.

Mine wasn't mis-firein' but had bad engine knock at the recommended 87 octane. So went to 89 and no knock and more power. A couple months ago when the weather was still cold I changed my oil to 5w 30 too. Runs much easier, but plan on going back to 10w 30 when it gets hot.

I heard that when you use that high Octane, it carbons up the plugs really bad...any truth in that?

It can load up the engine if you run too high of an octane because it doesn't burn completely in a relatively stock engine. The higher the octane the harder it is to ignite and burn it. You get the most horsepower running the lowest octane fuel possible without detonation. If your truck runs good on 89 octane without pinging you won't gain any power by running 100 octane. I always run 87 in my truck unless i am going to be using the nitrous, then i go up to 89.

Ya its kinda like different grades of gun powder. You want a nice even push all the way down the barrel, depending on the length of the barrel. If ya use too slow of a burning powder it isn't burnt completely after the bullet exits the barrel and you lose power and accuracy.
( thats if your into reloading )
Any thoughts on the thinner oil?

I know lots of people that switch between 5w and 10w in the winter and summer. It sure makes it crank over easier on subzero days. I usually run synthetic which doesn't thicken as much as conventional oil when it's cold.
