Message: i too have a v6 auto and the milage is not bad but you know it really is not great either. i used to drive a v6 5speed before this one and i also would say that depending on your budget and driving habits then you might want to go for a manual because to my experience i have noticed close to a 5 mpg differnce between the auto and manual that i had.

Message: What kind of numbers are you guys talking? I've had my '91 two wheel drive for about two months now, its a 5-speed 3.9 V-6 and I have had as good as 20-21 mpg highway and as bad as 14-15 city only driving, mixed around 16-17. What does the automatic get? My 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4 X 4 w/ the 4.0 I-6 automatic gets about what my two wheel drive stick 3.9 Dakota gets. I don't drive either one very hard, but I enjoy driving a manual much more (unless I'm stuck in traffic!!).

Message: My Dak with an auto gets about exactly what your 5-speed gets mhall02. I got almost 22 mpg on my last highway trip that was not all flat ground.

Message: in my 99 auto i got about 19-21 on my last highway trip that was half mountains. making that same trip in the 94 5-speed i got around 23-24. in the city i really dont even keep up with it because my driving varies from which part or which city im in.
