Subject: Two fans on the V6? IP: Logged
Message: I noticed the other day my 2000 V6 Dak had an electric fan on the radiator. Does anyone know when this fan kicks on? Can the belt driven clucth fan be removed without any heating problems?
Thanks

Message: It also turns on to supply supplimental cooling when coolant temperature reaches a certain point (I've heard 210*, but that may be wrong).
Interestingly (to me, anyway), I've recently removed my clutch fan to see how that affects temps. So far, the temperature hasn't gone above where it did with the clutch fan on; the electric fan is able to provide enough cooling. We'll see this summer, though. I also haven't tested it in heavy stop & go traffic, so that could definately cause temps to go up.
