Subject: anyone selling any old stock parts? IP: Logged
Message: I am prepping my 2001 3.9 to put in my 97 dak. I want to make it an easy in and out swap (no borrowing of parts on swap day). Unfortunately all 2001 parts are not interchangeable with 97.
Anyone have a 97 intake manifold for sale?
also need valve covers and intake manifold.
A/C compressor and bracket?
Will the 2001 injectors and fuel rail work in a 97 manifold?
Thanks

Message: Evereything is interchangeable from 2001 to 1997 except for the injectors. In you 1997 truck you are going to need design II injectors, the injector style changed in 2000. The 2001 injectors are design 3. The fuel rail is the same though as are the manifolds valve covers etc.

Message: I am putting in the 2001 because I got a great deal...3 miles on it, complete to the airhat and motormounts---$ 1k--so I figured at the worst case I would strip it down to the heads and put on my parts.
Thanks for all the suggestions. If the connection is the same for the wiring harness, and I just plug into my truck, gen 3 injectors and all, what would happen? Would the computer refuse to feed those injectors, or would I have to put a larger pressure reg.?
When I say my motor is complete I mean down to the heater core hoses and upper/lower rad. Serp belt and all.
I guess I could leave valve covers and intake on as is, it's just that pcv and breather are reversed of what I have, but still no biggie, it's still all connected (breather to airhat; pcv to intake man.).
Will 97 injectors fit in a gen 3 manifold? Would you suggest putting new 97 injectors in the gen 3 manifold, and putting on my old parts from the injector up (fuel rail, harness, etc.)? Or what other options do I have to keep all my new parts , get a new computer from a gen 3?
All help greatly appreciated.
Anyone mopar mechanics interested in making a few bucks? How much to swap motors in sunny southern Cal? Or, how much to write detailed instructions for me (not on how to remove engine) on what parts to remove, and replace with which parts, inclusive of part numbers if possible.
Don't want anyone to work for free, but need answers to do swap, such as: use 2001 valve covers--yes; use 2001 injectors--no--replace with p/n ___, and retain your fuel rails and harness... if that's the case.
thanks

Message: Will do. This weekend I am getting the truck ready for a nice smooth job, steam cleaning the hell of the engine compartment (not greasy, but grimey)--dust that collected due to detail shop using armor all on my hoses before I got there---thanks:(
Already have new radiator (OEM through radiators.com for half price); have new hoses and clamps (mopar) and new fan clutch with 97 part number and fan, so as to keep the mating the way it was when new and wouldn't get over 195 no matter what!---have new heater core hoses and will flush core again for good measure to make sure clean.
Will e mail soon.
