I have done a few mods but nothing really big. Why shouldn't I port it out, wouldn't that make it breathe even better and give me more gains? Thanks for your help.

I have a 3.9 automatic with cold air intake, 180 degree thermostat, AIT relocated, and 3923's. I am planning on getting a dinomax muffler soon too.

big red...did you check my link above?

Just put it on as it is then if you still want to make a paper weight out of it you can do it later, I have one sitting on my shelf that I bought new $160. run it for about 10k miles then thought I'd make it better....ported it and removed the air horns....it's to much for a mild V6. If you want to port something sell the V8 TB and port your V6 TB you'll be much happier. The fastman 46mm is the best for mild V6's

yeh ibought one from sam bought a dremmel &a
throttle cable then ported the ferk out of it
made a 4" air tube from fibre glass run it
right up to the hole where the flap was put 1 of
those reactive filters on that have filter on the end as well, guess what bottom end is like stock
or less & it strugles to do a ton at the top end
it was better with the 4" tube on stock throttle
body needless to say i,am currantly porting my
v6 1, 300 bucks later
did any 1 remove there butterflies cos mine striped out on the v6 so now i have to re tap em
or get some self tapping machine screws slightly bigger so good luck. you,ve been warned the choice is yours 01 club dynomax out the side
in front of wheel +above

the V8 tb is better than a ported/polished V6 tb... i did that to my V6 tb and then later put a V8 on and it is much better.

Ok, so I can either port my stock V6 one or just put the V8 one on as is. I guess I will just put on the V8 throttlebody and then if I dont like it I will port my v6 one and change it back. How much of a difference will does it make? Thanks for everyones help. I am glad someone spoke up before I made an expensive paper weight. Any other opinions or experiences would be apprieciated.

well i have had basically four different throttle bodies on my truck; stock V6, homebrew modified V6, Magnum Performance Custom V6, and a stock V8. There was a nice big difference from the stock V6 to the modified one... computer even stumbled when it found the new found power. The v8 i would say allowed for a little more top end then the modified V6. Now the magnum performance piece had the most torque of any and it was flat out amazing... jerked ya back really hard but I switched to the V8 tb for more top end with the turbo. Now that i have removed the turbo i might jsut put that tb back on.

it wasnt one that they sold. It was a custom piece that Bernd had them make for him. Back when it was new it was pretty darn expensive.

hey i was wondering if anyone has ported the opening to the intake manifold... i recently put on a throttle body spacer.. and there is about a 1-2mm lip of theintake manifold that u can see from above with the butterflies open... im not gonna take the manifold off to do this but does anyone think i could do it keeping the manifold on..it must be restricting flow somewhat.. the spacer took away some low end power but added some top end.. gave me a little better gas mileage.. i dont know if it was worth it for 90 bucks tho..

So what do ya consider mildly modded V6?
I was planning on getting an F&B 48mm.

The only other mod I have now is a Magnaflow muffler.
