Message: Sadly enough.. Unless you want to rip half of the body off the frame and lift it up out of the truck, you will have to cut your pipes to drop it down... At least in my 1991 we did.
Now might be a good time to go with some flowmasters, eh? hehe

Message: If you have a stock exaust system you shouldnt have to "cut" anything.
Simply unbolt the Y pipe from the exaust manifolds and then from the exit pipe heading to the cat.
Good luck.

Message: THeres a lot of salt in my area in the winter and i had no problem unbolting the y pipe with just a 3/8" ratchet. so it shouldn't be a problem. I left the rest of the system intact, just unbolt the y pipe and you'll be able to drop the exhaust down about 3" in the front, just enough to pull the tranny out. You will also have to disconnect the parking brake cable since that's in the way too. With a lift and air tools i pulled the trans out, replaced the clutch, put the trans back in and drove the truck away in 3 hours.
