Message: So, the Deltaflow 40 sounds the best for v6? how much are they and where can you find them. Another question, if I am making a homemade CAI do I have a stock IAT that needs to be relocated?
I am new to this site and deal with diesel engines for a living, not much gas. Thanks for any help guys.

Message: the IAT relocation is really not that hard, you take it from the intake manifold and put it into the air hose before the air cleaner. just take it off the manifold, plug that with a screw, then drill a hole for the sensor to go into, and glue a nut around it for the sensor to thread into, and put it in. this works because the computer thinks it is getting colder air than it really is so it puts in more fuel=more hp, but worse gas mileage. Message: Depending on how far you wish to go w/your V6 , you have many choices. The AIT sensor relocation mod is a good near no cost mod. There are many little tricks you can do to extract a few more ponies out for next to nothing costwise. A 180 T-stat is good. Modifying you TPS for quicker throttle response is a good cheap mod. Indexing, or modifying your spark plugs and running them one step cooler is also worth a bit. Making a cold air kit is good like you said you would do. Depending upon your determination, skill, and resources you can do quite a bit more to a V6 to get a significant improvement in performance and mileage, or just performance, if you are of that mindset like I am. I have a Dakota with a 3.9 that runs flat 14s in the quarter, has 133,000 miles on a bone stock bottom end that uses very little oil if driven sanely, but it gets only 17 mpg on the road. It is geared pretty low w/3.90s, but with the stock ring and pinion it would still put out 22+ mpg (I typically cruise @ 73-75 mph). Obviously, the motor spins significantly higher w/the 3.90 ring and pinion. Good sources of information and parts: www.hughesengines.com, KRC Performance.

Message: I appreciate all the info guys and LADY, I purchased the 40 series flowmaster online yesterday for $68, and ordered a roll pan. I am interested in doing the cheap and easy mods for now.... I eventually want the extreme mods to happen of course, but need to wait till the holiday bills are paid! Anyone have any R/T rims or R/T rims and tires for sale preferably chrome.
Thanks!

Message: It's all a matter of personal preference and opinion... some love the orginal 40 series, some like the 50 series, some like the delta flows, and some only like Dynomax or another brand.

Message: I'm just curious if anyone has tried to convert a set of 5.2L V8 headers for their pre-magnum V6? I've read several posts and they've talked about using the gaskets from a V8 for the V6 by cutting off the unneeded end. Provided the header shape allowed them to clear the accessories and/or subframe, couldn't the same be done to the headers? Just remove the unneeded end pipe and weld the hole in the collector closed. Hell, I suppose you could even weld in an O2 sensor mount. Any thoughts and/or has anyone done this?

Message: David,
A good place to get a gibson exhaust is JC Whitney, often they have a 10-15% off offer on the back cover of their catalog. just go to JCWitney.com to order a catalog. I have the swept side exhaust don't bother w/ that one it kills low end power, builds good power 2500-up rpms. not practical for everyday driving, unless you don't care about mpg's & have a very heavy foot.
