i've been told a brass cap and rotor for my dist. will help, but what brand have you guys had positive experience with, where did you get them and how much should i expect to spend?

I used a Borg and Warner cap and rotor. I don't know about it making run any better but they do last longer.

Wouldn't want any other!

I use a Wells. The thermal properties of brass are a little better than aluminum which tends to vaporize (on the surface) and lead to rough running.

I'd be interested in a big cap upgrade a la the HEI upgrade for the 4.2L Jeep engines. Since the cap on our 3.9's is a Ford part I wonder if Ford has any interchangable parts. The Autolite distributor on the 4.2L Jeep could be swapped out for other Ford parts as well. Hmmm...it makes me think.
