Hello All
I have an 88 Dakota 3.9 with the a535/np2500 4 speed manual with o/d. The transmission has two gears that have broken teeth. A remanufactured tranny is $1500.00 One from a junkyard is $500.00 And I have only found one transmission shop that will even look at it and they said it would probably be over $500.00 to rebuild it. All of these options are more than I wish to spend on an 88 Dakota. My question is....is there another standard "Mopar" transmission that will bolt up to my 3.9 with little modifications. I can have the driveshaft modified if necessary. And it does not have to be a 4 speed with o/d. I would be happy with any standard tranny that will bolt up. I would appreciate any help that you can give.

a junkyard tranny is $500? the junkyard trannys here are $34.99 plus core. and i just had an automatic rebuilt, which is much more complex, and it cost me only $265, so i think these people are seeing you coming

$265 for an auto tranny rebuild??? THat's really cheap, and i've never seen a junkyard let a tranny go for less than $100.
Anyways the Aisan trannies used in lots of the dakota's are also used in most of toyota's trucks. That should give you a few more options to look at in the junkyard. Just crawl underneath and look at the casting marks.
