Message: Well cool stuff man. Thanks. One more question, if I wanted to get some other electric fan that is cheaper and flowed just as much air, I would have to get a wireing harnes of some sort, but where would it plug into since i have a belt drivin fan as of now.

Message: I'm not sure on that, I would guess its just like anything else it would plug into or you would have to cut and splice. I know pep boys sells electric fans, I don't know how much they flow but they also sell all the accessories (temp sensors, wiring kit, etc) separate.

Message: Since this post is here, I'll make it worthwhile for someone to actually read it... anyone have any or know of any how-to's with pics on installing an electric fan in place of the old clutch fans? I'd like to get one but don't know the first thing about wiring up electronics properly in a vehicle...and pics would sure help.

Message: josh, the fan kit should come with the necessary thermo switch and relay you would need. i don't have any instructions but they are pretty straight forward to install. i've read some stuff on the new Flex-a-lite BM180 extreme black magic and looks like a great option and easy install. or talk to Sam @ socal. he has some viper fan kits also.
oh and jay, do that wire and toggle switch thing and i'll call the fire dept for you when your truck catches fire. you must use a relay. those fan prolly draw 30 at least amps.

Message: Yes you need a relay
I am running the permacool 2950 shrould removed
and mounted right to the rad a flexolite thermo
control and it works great
$100 for the fan
$10 relay
$30 flexolite direct fluid read thermo control
very easy to hook them up I have a wire scamatic
I can send you that shows you how to set it up
with a switch in the cab with thermo activate
and manual on incase of thermo failure with 2
LED's green to show its activated and red to show
its running
A few parts from radio shack
2 LED's 1 red 1 green
1 small project box
2 1k resisters to run the LED's
This also makes it very easy to adjust knowing
when its running
requiers runnig 3 wires into cab
2 for ground
1 for red LED
