Subject: 5-SPEED SHIFTING
IP: Logged

Message:
I just bought a '98 Dakota v-6 5-speed about a month ago and have noticed something that seems odd with the trans. When upshifting from 1st to 2nd it shifts like a farm truck(hard shifting) and it sometimes feels like it doesn't want to go into gear also does the same thing downshifting from 3rd like when going around corners or pulling up to stop lights sometimes even after stopping I almost have to force the thing into first or double clutch it I'm getting used to it but I'm just curious if this is normal or am I using to high of a shift point (2500-3000 usually)

any feedback would be greatly appreciated

I'm talking about normal everyday driving I've had it redlined more than once but that was shortly after I got it (had to try it a few times)but I ve calmed down a little now and trying to figure out what mods I want to do. Now that I think about it I noticed the hard shift when I test drove it but blew it off cause I like the truck

I have the same problem, but only if the truck is cold... once things have warmed up the problem goes away...
