Hi ,
My 92 Dakota (150.000 + miles) after about 30 or 40 minutes of driving it starts to miss a little at first then soon after, start spitting and coughing and it get so bad that i have to pull over and wait anywhere from 10 to 45 minutes depending on if its warm or cold out ,for it to want to start again.... seems to start sooner if its colder out . Other than this very frustrating problem ( basicly i have around 30 minutes of driving time ) for over 150.000 miles on, it screams!! thx for ne help.

dunno if this will help you on your year model truck but.. a friends 99 dakota did the same thing , turned out to be the cam position sensor on his...he also said that on the parts store scanner he bought reports the same code for the cam position sensor as well as the crank osition sensor...hope this helps some.

I just went through this on my 95. If it's the same as mine it'll get more frequent. I first checked the splice under the fuse box under the drivers side hood. It has a habit of corroding and you can't see it unless you peel back the tape. It's free, check that first! Then I went on with coil, ignition pick up etc. I replaced my crankshaft position sensor too. No help. I finally bought a new computer and it's been about 500 miles and no problem.

Next time it dies, turn the key on and look at your dash lights, I noticed everything (oil, brake, etc.) came on but the check engine light did not! If thats the case it'll be your computer!
