i own a 98 dakota sport 3.9. after being in a hit & run accident 3 weeks ago i picked up the truck today. the truck had extensive damage to the front end including the suspension. when i started it the check engine light was on. of course, the shop owner wasen't around so i couldn't ask him about the light being on. it never was on before. when i visited the shop previously i noticed that the battery was disconnected. could having the batt. disconnected for this long be a cause of the light being on, or can anyone give me an idea of what the hell happened? the engine runs fine so far, but i've only driven it about 5 mi. or so. after a $4700. insurance bill, i'm kinda pissed that the guy didn't tell me, & he had to have known 'cause he drove it out of his shop.
