Message: Hey, I've been thinking about one,
how do you like it?? any side effects??
does it work better then the stock air intake? I was also thinking about making an intake, but the breather thing looks cool under the hood.

Message: It works great. I picked up some throttle response and a little power. Yeah it works better than stock intake, it has almost no restriction and i picked up about 1.5 mpg. The only side effect I could think of is it wissles when the motor is cold but I think it sounds pretty cool. It turns some heads when I start it. I just need to get exhaust to, well, just to make me happyer.

Message: How is that cool air? Its getting air from off the engine that air is hot! Thats why they make cold air inductions.

Message: I never, or I don't think I ever said that it is sucking in cool air. It might be for the first minute or so untill the engine warms up. It has to flow more air than a cool air intake because there is not as much rectriction. If you think about it, most of the "cold air intakes" for dakotas isn't doing to much better. The air that it takes is from the front of the engine, so it is cooler air but not quite cold air.

Message: I took a 6" down to 4" cone and some 4" duct and made my own ram intake. This is made from water heater duct.
I put in a K&N filter, ripped out the little elbow that sucked air from behind the headlight. Removed the rubber shield that covered the air conditioner hoses.
The 6" cone now sits next to the radiator and grabs fresh air, ramming it into the stock air box.
Who needs to spend $150 on those cool air intakes.
