Message: if i keep my stock Y-pipe on my 97 ext cab 3.9, is there any way i can run 3 inch piping from the like end of the Y-pipe into a cat, out of the cat and into a muffler? will the piping be able to be welded onto the end of the y-pipe?

Message: so should i just run 2.5" piping from the Y-pipe back? what would be the best way to run it for the most power and most noise?

Message: generally if you want noise you use a smaller diameter pipe. If you wont a low mellow rumble you would use a larger pipe
