Subject: Clutch job flywheel question IP: Logged
Message: I just took my 93 Dak Sport V6 5sp into my local "5 Star" Dodge dealer here in Charlotte,NC. The service guy calls me a week later and says the truck is ready and tells me that they replaced the clutch, and also sent the flywheel to a machine shop and had it machined. I asked them if they mic'd it before and after, they said no.
I have the Chrysler Service Shop Manual for this truck. It says in big bold letters "Do not machine the flywheel. The flywheel is face is manufactured with a unique serface contour. Maching would negate this feature resulting in unsatisfactory performance."
Considering they charged me $800 for a clutch job, I talked to the service manager before I paid them, and I showed him the service manual. He apologized and now they are keeping the truck another 4 days and installing a new OEM flywheel for free !
not sure if anyone has had problems with machining flywheels on Gen 2 daks , but i hope this helps someone.
