 Subject: the Chevy Xtreme 4.3

My friend has one a 2000. With 3.02 gears I THINK. Logic would suggest I could take him, pretty much equal w/ displacement and power, (I think he has 185hp at the fly, ours is 175.)
Why in the blue hell does he smoke me? no mods on his truck.

His truck is around 500 pounds lighter for starters. And, he most likely has the 3.40 or 3.73 gears. Even with the 3.02's, the weight makes a big difference. Have him put about 500 pounds of sand in the back and see how he competes.

I don't know about you alls but I haven't met a 4.3 that can take me yet. I got a 93 Dak RC with a 3.9 and (insert number) for gears. I have whooped all over the 4.3 crowd with no mods on my truck except the air filter.

Hehehehe...I do. Even on a buddies modified Xtreme (Cam, Headwork, intake, TB, and exhaust). He's quick...but not quick enough. ;)

Dodge MiCK - What do you have on your truck (mods and options: tires, gears, trans, etc.)
The Xtremes run about mid 16's from the factory and the Dakota's run low 17's.

I raced a stock 4.3 and killed It. I have a stock 2000 V6 auto with 3.92.

My friend w/ the Xtreme claims to have 3.02 gearing, which I doubt, and he's got a 4.3 with 185 hp. I'm not well informed on GM.

why would a bone stock, heavier truck with less displacement beat a truck that weighs a lot less and has more power????? it doesnt make sense....maybe if u had a 5 speed and he had an auto.
think about it ur racing the dakotas third biggest engine against the s-10s biggest...if u wanted to beat s10s you should have gotten a V8.....and so should I have....or get a powerdyne

the 3.9 is not very powerful. i know someone with a 94 s10 with k&n intake and flowmaster and he claims 0-6- between 6 and 7

sounded way to fast to me at first, but if u think about it the 5 speed 4.7 dak can do like 6.2 so a lighter truck with 185 or 190 hp with mods that add like 25 hp should at least be somewhat close to that

dodgemich, every v6 extreme i have seen has had 3.42 gears and with 235/50/16 tires which are noticably smaller in diamiter than your 255/65/16...that's why they can smoke them

i have s10 xtreme with a 4.3 in it. nothing done to it but 20 inch rims and i still beat most of the dakotas i come by. lighter truck helps alot.

i have very limited work done to my truck and i can take 4.3s , now my truck also has alot of weight added, tonno stereo me, lol its a 5 speed, there is a couple that can take me but i still have my lot of them i beat, being the s10 is alot lighter it helps alot, and kylem, you can take those trucks with your 93 cause your gen2 is a lot lighter then gen3 daks, prolly runnin the same weight as the extremes,

the extreme is just a body kit and i think alittle suspention diffrence..pre 96 s-10 w/4.3 we should be able to take they have 160 hp. 96 and up is when they all had cpfi and put out 190hp.

nope... only S10/Blazer to recieve 190 hp is the 4X4. The 1997 model had 175hp (parents owned one) and the 1998 and up model had 180 (maybe 185 on some).
