Subject: Black Magic Fan IP: Logged
Message: I am considering removing the factory engine driven fan and installing a Black Magic fan. According to the Summit Racing website, there is not an adjustable thermostat. What are the on/off temps set at? Or, is the fan supposed to run whenever the engine is running?
Also, seems like I read somewhere that when you remove the stock fan, you have to install some kind of balancer.
Any info on this would be much appreciated.

Message: Check Cabela's or Bass Pro Shop clearence in auto for a great price now on Blk. Magic fans...ele. fans need a thermo switch on engine...check auto parts around 12 bucks for the 170 degree fixed thermo switch that will run about 190 degrees in summer...contact Flexalite Fan for the adj. switch to run at a lower temp...always add an inline fuse to ele. wire install...out

Message: Latifah, if you buy the Black Magic 150 it has an adjustable thermostat from like 180 to 240 deg. already built into it. I have already removed my stock fan and am waiting until Sat to install my Black Magic. I'm really pleased with the trottle response so far. You don't need any balancer. Depending how you wire it up, it will run when the engine gets up to a certain temp and when the a/c is running.

Message: Great! Thanks guys! Is the fan easy to remove? I may just try it tonight. It's cool out and I just want to feel what kind of power gains I will get. Hopefully it will be easy to remove and reinstall. I will have to put it back on right away since I haven't ordered an electric fan yet. I think I am going to leave the factory fan shroud on....I just prefer the factory look.

Message: Latifah, I installed the black magic couple of weeks ago. It comes with the adjustable tstat but the thing didn't work on mine. The fan came always on, no matter what temp the water was... I have put a switch on the dashboard and keep an eye on the temp gauge for now.

Message: Vern:
Did you wire your Perma-Cool fan in place of the existing electric fan or did you also get the wiring set?
